About Arts Advocacy Day:

Texans for the Arts will kick off the start of the 81st Texas Legislature and TFA 2009 Legislative Agenda advocacy efforts with Texas Arts Advocacy Day in Austin on Tuesday, February 10, 2009.

The state-wide event, co-chaired by Judy Pollock, Dallas, and Joe Wilson, Houston, begins at the Radisson Hotel Downtown Austin with morning advocacy training sessions by our professional lobbyists HillCo Partners and a public relations panel moderated by Sara Kellner of Kellner Consulting.

After lunch with dynamic arts advocate and fund raiser Bill Lively, participants will spend the afternoon visiting Legislators to share information on Texans for the Arts' 2009 Legislative Agenda.

Keynote speaker Bill Lively is the Founding President and CEO of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts. As DCPA President, Bill spearheaded fund raising efforts that brought in $324M in the past 8 years to build the new Center. As of January 1, 2009, he is President of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation's Endowment Trust and President and CEO of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee.

Sara Kellner is the principal of Kellner Consulting, which focuses on consulting in the arts, including organizational and creative planning, public art and fund development. She has served on fuding panels for the National Endowment for the Arts, the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, the Philadelphia Exhibitions Initiative and the Houston Arts Alliance. She is the President of the Downtown Area Women's Network in Houston.

HillCo Partners is a full service government affairs consultancy focusing on legislation, policy and regulation. They are in their fifth year of providing legislative expertise to Texans for the Arts.
